Just a couple of hours ago, an unexpected visitor came to visit us at the front door. As my brother was parking his car, he saw something flew at the ceiling of the garage and upon failing to leave, fall back down to the floor. It was a bird. A colourful bird, really really beautiful colours. Unfortunately, it couldn't fly, its like its injured or ran out of energy. A cat was eyeing the bird so he took the bird into one of the cages for safety. The whole family were looking at the bird as if its a rare exhibit or a celebrity on red carpet. We took a number of shots of it, with multiple cameras. I mean, its a rare visit by a rare bird after all. This IS something interesting right? I was armed with an iPod Touch in front, googling what species of bird this colourful visitor is.

The iPod was too small to make a comparison or a guide with, and googling "yellow breasted bird" wasn't good enough, so I thought I should tweet the pic up, preferably to a bird specialist. Choul tweeted faster, she put the pic up and a friend of hers identified it as a Pitta Moluccensis. True enough, after googling the that in name under image search, you see the exact same colors at the exact same position.

Whatever it is, its staying in the cage tonight, there are a lot of predator cats around my neighbourhood, cats that like to make my house a rest area. My home is like an R&R or a motel for cats, cats come and go as they please, sometimes leaving brown jewels on the grass or my car roof.
Anyone got anymore information on this bird? Like, why is it lost and why ain't it flying?
Update: Some additional info on this Burung Pacat by the government in BM. Apparently its a protected species. It may be someone's pet.
