MM - The Real Thing - You To Me Are Everything

I never actually knew who sung this song, but I always enjoy listening to it whenever I hear it playing, and the lyrics are great too. That's why I dedicated it to Soul :) I'm sure most people will know about this song. If you don't, play it a few times, you'll know how the chorus will stick in your head. Enjoy!

Spontaneously 5 Years

Time flies. Seriously. Just checked out my archives recently and I found out that today is the 5th birthday for Spontaneous Insignificancy. Officially, I opened this blog with a "hello" post in 2004. But I only really started posting in my blog in mid-2005. But hey, it doesn't matter. All that matter is that Spontaneous Insignificancy got me into the blogosphere in 2004. It wasn't called Spontaneous Insignicancy originally, but I can't for the life of me recall the original name. I think it was called Angst Sanctuary or something.

A lot have happened over 5 years, I've even changed my style of blogging as a sign of "maturing" so I don't rant as much, or curse as much, since I want to keep things clean here. My blog hasn't had the best traffic but it was a great place to just spontaneously write whatever I want to write about. I didn't really open up my blog to public so I didn't care about the traffic that much.

Recently, I registered for Entrecard and that helped me gain a LOT of new friends that frequent my blog, and my traffic is better now. I still don't earn anything from this blog though, since my traffic is still "insignicant", but getting interaction and comments really make it all worth it.

Thanks to all the readers, frequenters, friends and the EC droppers. Thanks for bringing life to this humble blog.

Let's see if I'll still be blogging in another 5 years to come.

Happy 5th Birthday, Spontaneous Insignificancy!

Al-Fatihah for Mikaeel. May you rest in peace.

Image taken from bebo.com

Such a shocking day indeed. I woke up this morning to be told by my mom that Michael Jackson is dead. The King of Pop is dead. Shocking and sad news indeed, as I stayed home a bit to watch the CNN broadcast on his death.

Of course the other shocking news is Farrah Fawcett died earlier too. The queen of Charlie's Angel had to succumb to her long battle with cancer. Rest in piece, Farrah. I was too young to watch Charlie's Angel or rather I was watching something else. I can't remember.

Confused? Mikaeel was his Muslim name. He converted to Islam late last year with support from his brother, Muhammad Abdul Aziz Jackson (Jermaine Jackson) and Yusof Islam (formerly Cat Stevens).

To the Muslims, please recite the Surah Al-Fatihah for him.

MJ, he was an inspiration to a lot of people, and I mean A LOT. Rarely have I met anyone who didn't accept MJ's music, he has this ability to come up with very catchy songs that stay in your head for ages. Think about it, how many songs of MJ do you remember? I remember plenty! And I'm not a diehard fan per se. Even if I don't remember the titles, I'll know when someone hums the tune or play the song that this is MJ's song.

Songs like Beat It, Thriller, Bad, Smooth Criminal, You Are Not Alone, P.Y.T, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Earth Song, Black or White, Remember The Time... and MUCH MORE, those are just what I remember on top of my head. His works were instant classic and his music videos were outstanding. Heck, I remember I always get excited when a new MJ music video is released. He always used the coolest technology at the time, so I had a reason to be excited. I even went to his concert in KL even if I was like about 100 miles from the stage. I remember when he had to use an airconditioned suit just to perform in KL.

But then everything went downhill for him, from health problems, child molest accusations and having a massive debt to pay. He was planning his comeback, but that was never to be.

Of course, in Facebook, I see a lot status updates giving their kind words for MJ's death. I'm one of them too. But then I get irritated by some select few which can be explained by my status update here.

So yeah there's plenty of MJ related status updates here, its spam I know, its annoying perhaps. But then there's a bunch who say "I'm not in the bandwagon because I'm way above you all" and say, what's the big deal?Where's your compassion? I wasn't a diehard fan of MJ but I can say 99% of his songs were catchy, and I acknowledge him as a performer, artist and a songwriter. Get off your high horses and be human FFS.

What I'm saying is, he may not have inspired you, but he's still human, and a death's a death. Why be a wet blanket over those who care? To me he was one in a trillion. Irreplaceable. Copied yes, but no one can replace him.

Rest in peace, Mikaeel a.k.a Michael Jackson. You were truly a legend.

Can a waterfall flow upwards?

So you're in an emergency, you need to do a number 2, you open a set of toilet paper, only to find a colony of cockroaches inside there. One big mother and several of its children scurrying about. Needless to say, suddenly you don't want to do your business anymore. If you ever thought a waterfall can't flow upwards, well sorry to say, at that moment I was a living example.

Thank you cockroaches, at least you saved me the hassle.

As you know, I'm not a big fan of cockroaches. I despise them. If you have your share of personal cockroach stories, share them here, or if you have a post about them, share them here too!

Sheesh!

MM - Slow Jamz - Twista feat Kanye West & Jamie Foxx

This time I'm changing the pattern, and I'm posting up the other type of music I like, rap songs with catchy hooks and this is one particular fine example, with three great artistes teaming up. to form this great song. I love Twista's songs. Most of his songs have great beats to go with his fast rhymin' and its just perfect to blast in the car while you're driving. Yes I do that, since I love bass to the max, even installed an affordable 12" woofer at the boot of my car to satisfy my bass desires. Too bad Twista hasn't come up with any new albums.

Anyway, I loved Slow Jamz instantly after listening to it. I was totally surprised that Jamie Foxx (only knew him as an actor) could sing real well from this song too. Anyway, enjoy or not, its totally subjective. I'm just sharing cause its Music Monday, and this is my kinda music woohooo....

ps. Listen to Jamie Foxx's albums. SUPERB singer. SUPERB tone of voice.

Friday Fill-In #7

I couldn't find the time to complete last friday's fill-in, but I'm back today. I have a big headache right now, and I wish I could just throw the headache away like a cap. Now wouldn't that be nice.

Anyway... here goes...

1. All children alarm their parents, if only because you are forever expecting them to be too mature too early.

2. Show me a good loser and I will show you a sore winner.

3. An alcoholic Forrest Gump's life is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs at one time.

4. Too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are busy debating with each other and in turn, the nation has to suffer. Whoa. Deep.

5. I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine a celery and their salary, and wanting to drink its juice.

6. It is impossible to think of any good meal, no matter how plain or elegant, without rice or wasabi in it.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to losing my headache, tomorrow my plans include losing my headache and losing my headache and Sunday, I want to enjoy life!

My fill-ins are bold and in colour. If you wanna do this current one, click here, if you want to check out the Friday Fill-ins site at http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/

Central Marketing Weekend

As you know, the haze is back, and its invading the Klang Valley like mad, but that didn't detract me and Choul from going to KL for our much needed weekend walkabout. This time around, we decided to roll straight to Central Market (CM). Its been awhile since I've last been in CM. Upon entering the place, I can see that its more crowded than the last time, but at least they've organised the shops nicely now, and the airconditioning is good too. There were plenty of things on sale, from souvenirs to tees to keychains. I really enjoyed checking out the different things creative people produce and sell in CM.

One of the things that caught my eye include, custom keychains made out of plastic layers, its probably well known, but its something new to me. Basically, you just give a name and a man will carve out your name layer by layer and the final result of the layers looks like your name with thick outlines. Its funny though, come to think of it, I use the same layer concept when using Illustrator to add thick black outlines for my text.

Another one that was pretty unique to me is a service by an artist, to write down your name, no, make that paint your name, in a very stylised way. I really don't know how to explain it, but he customises the alphabets to look like its made out of plants and flowers, with awesome play of gradients. His style of colouring reminds me of classic Japanese and Chinese artworks. Very cool indeed. You have an option to get your name written on bamboo paper (?) or a smaller piece of paper. Well, that's what the sign said, don't blame me :)

Besides that, I see a lot of customised t-shirts, mostly with play of text and clever phrases. Unfortunately, I didn't really see anything that I find jaw-dropping, but its still pretty interesting to look at. Oh, there was one cool t-shirt. It was a simplified KLCC but it was all shiny and reflective, and its blue too. That's probably why they call it foil graphics or something. I was about to take a closer look, but the seller there was about to bug us with the "yes?" look. I truly get annoyed with that. I know it probably gets customers, but not me. It just makes me want to leave the store. I don't need an assistant breathing on my neck while I browse your products, no thank you.

Then we went outside only to find out there's a spot for all the painters selling their artwork. Its called the Central Market Annexe. Painters never cease to amaze me. I love how they can produce artwork on a big scale with natural media like pastels or acrylic and such. I really felt envy at that moment. Wish I could do that, but alas, I never pursued natural media. My bad. My computer is my only art domain. Oh well, one day I'll start painting.

I didn't get to take a lot of pictures this time, but at least we took some.

To the regulars of Central Market, are there any interesting things that I missed?

Note: This was supposed to be posted last Monday. I apologize for the delay, been busy as hell.

MM - Roberta Flack & Peabo Bryson - The Closer I Get To You

Another Music Monday! And this time I'm early. I think.

Anyway, this time around, as usual, another classic, by two exceptional singers, Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson. The song? The Closer I Get To You. This is one helluva soulful romantic love song for you to duet with your signicant other! Enjoy!

When boredom strikes, creativity kicks in. Say hello to your usually-hard-to-find smiling Terminator. I guess I can probably terminate people by annoying them with this face.

MM - Kenny Rogers - Lady

Back then, when Kenny Rogers wasn't associated with roast chicken (a Malaysian thing, probably), he sung this beautiful song called Lady. I think I've heard it a long time ago when I was a kid, but I only recently really know about the song a few years ago, introduced by my bro. I got hooked on it after listening to my bro sing the song, and more recently, from several participants of different training programmes of the company I work for. Pretty great song for the guys to sing to their significant others, don't you think?

Enjoy. :D

Total Eclipse of the Heart: Literal Video Version

Ever seen a video that make you laugh out loud so bad that makes you want to give a standing ovation? Well, probably you have but this video really made me laugh. I couldn't really laugh hard since the missus is asleep, but believe me, I had to reallllyyy control my laughter. Its HILARIOUS!

I bet you know the song, Total Eclipse of the Heart, but this is one version you will not forget.

I found out about this video from a link Shemah tweeted, which is actually a retweet of her sister's (Ratusyura) tweet. Did you get that? Anyway, enjoy!

Friday Fill-In #6

ffi

A bit late for this one, since I've been busy. Here I go!

1. No matter how bad the situation is, no matter how stressed out you are, be thankful you have a place to call home.

2. My favorite thing for dinner lately has been KFC's Original Recipe Snack Plate with a side order of their Cheesy Grilled Potato. Not very healthy but delicious. Huhuhu.

3. When you shout "tree bark!" in a cave, it sounds like you're saying tree bark! bark! bark!

4. A nice long walk is what I should be doing, not sitting in front of the PC 24/7.

5. Even with the stream of unfortunate events I'm getting recently, its nice to know there's some good news.

6. When all is said and done, please return to your seat and we will evaluate your debating skills.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to eating KFC, tomorrow my plans include completing a design job and Sunday, I want to do something fun!

My fill-ins are in bold and in colour. If you wanna try them out just check out http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/

My Personality Test

Marzie gave me a pretty straightforward tag. A personality test. I just needed to answer a few multiple choice questions and it magically summarises what type of personality I have.

The rules are:

1. Open this website : http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx
2. Take the Personality Quiz (it's VERY short and easy, really)
3. Copy Paste the result to your blog.
4. Tag as many friends as you can and link to the friend who tagged you.

Here's the result of my quiz:

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You have many goals and want to achieve as much as you can. The jobs you enjoy are those that let you burn off your considerable excess energy.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

I find it surprising that most of what it says is quite true. Hehehe, I guess sometimes these quizzes can be quite accurate.

Anyway, I'm tagging Choul, Annyboo, and Najibu. No obligations! Answer if you want to. Can't think of anyone else since most are too busy to answer my tags :P

Oh, and Spiff, I'll be answering your tag real soon :)

MM - George Benson & Carlos Santana - Breezin'

It's late evening of a Monday and finally, I've found a song suitable for Music Monday. Its time to drop the vocals and let the instruments do the talking with George Benson's Breezin' featuring a very very special guitar hero, Carlos Santana. Sit back, relax and chill to the tunes of some old school guitar fusion.
